As I've mentioned before, Stephen spends more time at the new house than I do. A week ago he set up the TV room (a 2nd bedroom that some day will be a kids room) - getting the furniture arranged, hooking up the TV, and organizing space heaters. He also has spent a lot of time clearing the house of defunct cables, updating the door handles and hinges, working on the home networking, and generally monitoring progress and making on-the-go decisions.
We are getting so close to being able to move in! The bathroom is done except for the shower glass, which will be another week or so - but we can use the tub, which has a handheld. The heating is complete upstairs, and is 90% ready downstairs, it's just now a question of getting it all hooked up and attached to the thermostats correctly. Now that we are on the back end of it, we look at each other and shake our heads over the small updates that turned into a gut renovation. We're almost there!
But we just can't wait! what we thought would be one week in transitional housing has turned into a month. We are so grateful to have a place to stay that is so comfortable, but we miss our stuff and we miss that 100% relaxed feeling you get from being in your own home. So tonight, Stephen asked me "in" on a date - take out and cable watching. It's technically our second meal at the house, but the first where we weren't huddled in a bundle to keep warm. Ladle of Love soups & stews and salad... and FIOS (!!!)
(ps - I have misplaced my camera in all of this mess. it's been almost a week now and it hasn't turned up. So I'm using my iphone only - please excuse the quality (or lack thereof) of the photos)
