Today, we buried Stephen's paternal grandmother, Lucille. It was the fourth funeral/memorial we'd attended in the past 6 months, and my first Jewish one. Grandma was 90 years old and lived out the remaining years of her life in a nice nursing home - visited frequently by family. Although it was sad to say goodbye, no one lamented any "unfairness" - it was just a celebration of her life.
The cemetery where she was buried holds many of Stephen's relatives - his beloved grandfather Melvin and Melvin's parents. It was a special peek into Stephen's ancestry that I was honored to be a part of.
