March 10: Navio

Today, we went to Navio beach - known for it's volcanic formations and "caves" on the edges. It was much more our speed and became our favored spot on the island. With waves, decent snorkeling if you went far enough out, and soft sand that Stephen described as "like hummus." Not too much shade, though, so we hid under big beach umbrellas.

This beach was also a favorite of Stephen's uncle Ernie, who lived on the island for many years in the late 90s, early 00s. It was nice to imagine being exactly on the spot where he declared himself the happiest.
